ICE HORSE (Jeff Ray & Mikkel Beckmen) from Minneapolis reimagines Minnesota winter as desert. Using electric & resonator guitars with hand percussion, they create improvisations using a collision of tunings merging the sounds of Hill-Country Blues, Tuareg desert trance and Calcutta influences inspired by Debashish Bhattacharya. Winter reimagined as desert - snow as sand - severe cold as heat - dog sleds as camel caravans - snowmobiles as jeeps. Sonic snowscapes of pale blue, emerging from an ice fishing hole from sturgeon-level depths.
